Bella the Desert Dog

Janice Edgar and Donna Acheson-Juillet

Bella had been missing for more than three months before I was ready to admit she was never coming back. I missed her like crazy and Mom suggested I write about her to cope with the loss. Well, once I started I couldn’t stop, and as we recalled all the good times we shared with her, we laughed and we cried. It felt good to put things on paper and put things in perspective. As I look at my scrapbook now I realise how lucky we were to have such a wonderful pet.

Bird's Eye View

Julia Johnson

Illustrations by Donna Acheson Juillet

Look up, look up and see them
Like words with wings they fly,
Hundreds of birds together
Scribbled across the sky!

Some have always been here
And some of them are new
But many more can now be seen
Where once there were a few.

You can hear them if you listen,
You can see them if you look,
And you’ll find some rhymes about them
In the pages of this book.
